Nau mai, haere mai
Kia ora, ko Miria Henry tōku ingoa.
I’m proud to present Weave with Flax—a 100% Māori-owned and operated studio, where each creation is uniquely handwoven as an inspiring gift for the world.
Nestled in a quiet beachside town in the Far North of Aotearoa, my studio sits in a place rich with Māori tradition, where the stories of our ancestors echo across the land.
My mahi is the art of traditional Māori weaving, crafting Kete (baskets), Potae (hats), and unique creations using harakeke (New Zealand flax). Each piece is woven with care and cultural integrity, reflecting my commitment to authentic Kiwiana design.
My studio is a calm, colour‑rich space shaped by harakeke and whakapapa. The natural greens, golds, browns, and muka whites create an atmosphere that feels grounding and welcoming. Visitors often describe a sense of connection the moment they walk in — as though they’ve arrived exactly where they’re meant to be.
Proudly supporting the heartbeat of our community
Supporting the wellbeing of our community is at the heart of what I do. I proudly contribute to essential local services and initiatives that safeguard, heal, and connect us all:
-
🚁 Westpac Rescue Helicopter – providing life‑saving emergency response when every second counts.
-
🏥 Local Hospital – strengthening healthcare close to home for families and individuals.
-
🚒 Fire Brigade – backing the dedicated teams who protect lives and property.
-
👴 Kaumātua – honouring our elders and supporting their role as guardians of wisdom and tradition.
-
🏠 Local Marae – supporting the cultural heart of our community, where people gather, share, and uphold tikanga.
-
🎡 Spin the Wheel – helping bring people together through community fundraising and events.
By supporting these groups, I aim to nurture resilience, celebrate our shared values, and ensure that vital services remain strong for generations to come.
Kia mau ki tō Māoritanga – Hold fast to your Māori heritage.
